The 2017 State of the Schools event, held at Center for the Arts at The Candy Factory, consisted of celebrating Manassas City Public Schools Education Foundation’s 25 years of existence, commemorating Dr. Catherine Magouyrk’s service as Superintendent of Manassas City Public Schools, and celebrating the Education Foundation’s business partners.
Micron Technology, Bookworm Central, and Imagine sponsored this year’s event which brought together an audience of elected officials, City of Manassas staff, school leaders, business owners, and community members. Liz Via-Gossman, President and Katy Keegan, Executive Director of the Foundation presented several businesses with Champion of Education or Supporter of Innovation awards for their support through generous contributions during the 2016-2017 school year.
Six innovative educators from local schools were featured at stations that showcased their accomplishments using the grants received from the Education Foundation. Our city schools are thriving due to the hard work of strong school leadership, dedicated educators, and students who have a passion for learning. The support of the community and local businesses has greatly impacted positive learning experiences that students are offered during the school day and beyond.
The connection to the Manassas community was demonstrated when Dr. Magouyrk ended the event by taking the stage and captivating the audience for her final appearance at this event.
