Manassas City Public Schools Education Foundation Awards Over $20,000 in Scholarships

Manassas, Va. – Manassas City Public Schools (MCPS) Education Foundation is awarding 10 students and seven educators with more than $20,000 in scholarships.

The Foundation will recognize the scholarship recipients during its Night of Excellence event on  May 26, 6:00 pm at Verizon Auditorium at George Mason University in Manassas, Va. During the event, the Foundation will also recognize educators to whom it awarded grants, as well as business and community partners who support the schools. Additionally, Manassas City Public Schools will present achievement awards to its staff and teachers. Sponsored by Lockheed Martin, Micron Technologies, Inc. and Ian Lovejoy, Night of Excellence is free and open to the public. In addition to the Foundation, organizations supporting the scholarship program are Apple Federal Credit Union, Lockheed Martin, Micron Technology, Inc., Minnieland Academy and Northern Virginia Community College. Gary and Jenni Barlet (MCPS Education Foundation immediate past president), Mayor Hal Parrish and family and MCPS Superintendent Dr. Catherine Magouryk and husband David Magouryk also support the program.

For over 20 years, the Manassas City Public Schools Education Foundation has focused on providing support for the students and teachers in the city’s school division.
